In 2021, Sigma appointed an in country Director for UK & Ireland and we are excited to now be able to offer the opportunity for a talented FMCG sales specialist to join us as Commercial Manager.

As Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for identifying a series of new customers across Retail, Foodservice, Convenience, Independent, B2B and D2C channels, while managing an existing portfolio of customer accounts.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Work with UK director to develop commercial strategy, delivering growth targets for International business unit in line with business guidelines.
  • Identify and co-define the best range and route to market for the Sigma-Alimentos group.
  • Work with Growth and Market disruptors to support trials and learnings from innovation and new business initiatives.
  • Directly manage existing and new accounts to achieve specific targets and internal KPI’s.
  • Work with various functions as part of a team to ensure Sigma – Alimentos objectives are met, achieving “recognised” supplier status for both bricks & mortar and online.
  • Lead key new projects with customers, developing aligned strategies & relationships to drive sales and listings.
  • Ensure Sigma are perceived as the expert within our market place and category. Plan, execute, monitor and review category and channel initiatives and prioritise Distribution, Display, NPD, Promotions, Pricing and Head Office resource.
  • Champion customer category perspectives internally, working towards multi- functional solutions through Supply Chain, Customer Service, Finance, Category and Marketing to meet customers’ needs.
  • Manage the timely and accurate development of promotion or customer event activity through the promotion process (pre and post evaluation), ensure meaningful output from reviews.
  • Ensure forecast volumes and spend are monitored and managed for accuracy.
  • Maintaining on-going control of customer performance on all metrics – sales, investment, profit, volume.
  • Ensure efficient day-to-day-operational running of all accounts; Costed Plan, Pricing & invoicing and minimal invoice queries. Preparing accurately for, and attending monthly review and cross-functional meetings.
  • Monitor and regularly review with UK Director, Customer Marketing and Finance the planned and actual trade monies spent.
  • Monitor supply and sales information vs forecast and highlight relevant information to Supply Chain, Finance and UK Director on a regular basis to maximise customer service and minimise waste
  • Organise, participate and support with trade shows, and exhibitions.

 

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager with extensive experience of UK retail environment. You will be a “Hunter”, with a new customer acquisition mindset, which will come with a high level of analytical curiosity and capability and highly developed influencing skills. You will have a strong understanding of category thinking principles and cooperative working, along with strong personal organisation skills. You will be an effective team player and have the ability to deal with detail accurately.

We are looking for experience in the chilled or short shelf life categories and someone with a strong knowledge of top 6 UK retailers in a similar role/ relevant sales development environment. Experience of working with 3rd party agents would be ideal along with a track record of successful new customer acquisition. You will have a good understanding of the nuances/ an appreciation of brands and have a real passion for food.
